I bought the standing raised bed for my mother and mother in law. We’ve set up my mom’s already and I was surprised by how fun it was for the whole family to put together. I will treasure the memories that came from this project. My 4 year old son matched the letters on the parts together with my 70 year old mom who has limited mobility. The 10 month old loved shaking it for structural integrity! My father joked we should have used it for a bassinet when she was a newborn.
It comes with beeswax to melt with an oil to seal the inside. There wasn’t much detail about the sealing process. We brushed 1 coat of mineral oil on the inside and then melted mineral oil and beeswax as a final coat on the interior. Nicole sells a mineral wash on the website that sounds like it would be perfect to order at the same time and significantly simplify the sealing process.
The bed is very thoughtfully designed. Pay attention to the letters on the wood pieces; the letters on the top pieces are smaller so that the post caps will cover them.
Nicole sends you just about everything you need other than the dirt! We used three 2 cu ft bags of organic potting soil. The book, seeds, ruler and tags made everything simple and lux!
