Soil blocking compresses pre-moistened seed starting mix into dense, freestanding cubes. Instead of sitting inside a plastic cell, each block is exposed on all sides — which means roots air-prune naturally when they reach the edge. 🪣 Step 1 — Prep your mix Moisten your seed starting mix until it holds together like firm brownie batter — wetter than standard consistency so the blocks hold their shape.
🔲 Step 2 — Press and release Press the blocker firmly into the mix, compress, then release onto a solid tray. Blocks should hold their shape and sit snugly side by side.
🌱 Step 3 — Sow your seeds Drop one seed into the small indentation at the top of each block. Cover lightly if needed.
